It's a long time since i wrote the last article, but now i don't have another choice.
Perhaps you have heard of the new
google wave, which will be available later this year. Wave is a new way of communication - it's a bit like email, wiki and instant messaging in one tool.
So, in wave it's possible to simply write a wave to someone else or to more than one recipient. Exactly like you do it with emails by now.
But it's also possible to edit the received email, comment on parts or the whole message and do many other great things. After that, you can share the whole communication process with someone else (there is a replay button so everyone can see who wrote something and in which order).
By this functionality you can start with an email, working on it with some friends or colleagues and after a while creating something you needed a wiki for by now.
Another application is instant messaging. The communication in wave is as fast as instant messaging (or even faster, by transmitting every single character!), so instead of switching between emailing and instand messaging you can simply use the same tool for both.
I'm really fascinated by wave and i'm pretty sure that this is going to replace emailing - if they can guarantee the speed, work well together with some email suplier and in particular handle upcoming spam.
One last point. Google Wave is going to be Open Source, so there is no need to take an account on the google servers. You are able to use wave exactly like you use email messaging by now - simply get an account from the supplier you trust!
Google Wave was presented on the
Google I/O, a webdeveloper conference organized by google. If you like to know more, check out the video on the
